for me, poetry is still a bit of a mystery.
this began as a serious personal exercise to understand and appreciate poetry, and to endeavour to compose at least one piece of good verse.
it still is, although to a lesser extent. moving on, this is now really a place to post my thoughts and observations in verse form.
I have developed a greater fondness for the haiku form of expression, more now than merely a syllable puzzle.
I'm not a purist in these matters but for me part of the magic still lies in the arrangement of 3 lines and 17 syllables, the single breath and the discipline contained therein.
I always endeavour to compose haiku in the traditional 5-7-5 - unless it appears very, very wrong.
following my love of composing haiku, i thought to explore the possibility of the two-minute poem: a short thought expressed in verse form with a minimum amount of reworking as the more I grind the corn, the least likely it will flourish.
it's instinctive, possibly partly semi-conscious verse; an inspired idea, a gut reaction, a poetic burp. moreover, hopefully honest! (though not literally two-minutes, though usually never more than half an hour).
hence the name of this blog, a reference to the skiver's anagram, the friday afternoon worker's ethic

That second haiku made me laugh as much as the situation it describes makes me unhappy every time it happens.
